Why are there Two Spirit Halloween Stores in One West Michigan Shopping Center?

It's a running joke on the internet that any time something closes (or does poorly), a Spirit Halloween is soon to replace it.

And they're not wrong. Thanks to Bed Bath and Beyond and Buy Buy Baby closing their doors earlier this year, West Michigan has a few extra Spirit Halloween locations popping up. As a Halloween enthusiast, I'm beyond amped to have more options to stop and check out stock of everything spooky and fun.

But, this might be a little bit of overkill... No, you don't have double vision, there really are two Spirit Halloween locations in the same parking lot in Grand Rapids

The Spirit Halloween located in the former Toys R Us on Alpine has been a staple for the past few years. I've gone to that location every single Halloween with my husband since I moved to West Michigan in 2021.

However, this year thanks to the Bed Bath and Beyond located on the other side of the Alpine Target closing, there is another new store literally in the same parking lot.

Why? No one seems to have an answer other than "the space was available," but even as a spooky season lover, this seems like overkill.

And before you ask, I did the leg work (literally) and checked out both stores. They're exactly the same. Both have the same products, almost identical layouts, and both are official Spirit Halloween stores. It doesn't matter which one you visit, you're going to get the same experience.

I guess if you're at Target and don't want to cross that tiny little road between it and the former Toys R Us location, you'd pick the Bed Bath And Beyond location, but otherwise, it's entirely pointless to have that location open.

Not to mention, there are two others stores in town, so it's not like you couldn't go to the locations on 28th and at Rivertown Mall.

So, no you're not drunk. Spirit Halloween is going to one day be in every single spot in the shopping center at this rate. Enjoy the Halloween supremacy, it's here to stay.
