Woodland Mall announced Saturday that it has made the decision to terminate the lease of the Barking Boutique.

Many community members expressed outrage after the store quietly opened in the mall earlier this week.

In a statement, Woodland Mall said,

Woodland Mall highly values the voices of this community. After evaluating shopper concerns, we have come to the decision to part ways with The Barking Boutique. Our customers are our highest priority and it is imperative to us that Woodland Mall remains a destination where shoppers feel comfortable spending their time.

A protest had been planned outside of the mall for later next week.

Several individuals, as well as organizations such as the Humane Society of West Michigan had asked the mall to reconsider housing the store in their facility.
