Great, now Instagram can tell if you happy or depressed!

How can they tell?  Do you take a lot of black and white photos?  It may not just be a sign of you being artsy with the camera.

Some researchers from Harvard and University of Vermont analyzed 150 people's Instagram photos and talked to them.  They found that the people whose pictures used the “Inkwell” filter or were more blue, gray or dark were depressed.

Apparently happy people tend to use the “Valencia” filter more and take brighter pictures. They also take pictures of things and groups of people. Whereas the depressed group manly took pictures of people, and usually only one or two people at a time.

The depressed people’s pictures also got fewer likes than the happier people.  So there’s that too.
