Two West Michigan counties are telling drivers to stay off the roads due to drifting snow, unplowed roads, accidents and generally hazardous conditions.

Monday morning, Cass County declared a snow emergency, with the sheriff's department warning drivers that they may be ticketed if they are caught on the roads, unless it's an emergency.

Allegan County is also telling drivers to stay off the roads unless it is an emergency.

Capt. Frank Baker with the Allegan County Sheriff's Department tweeted that many back roads are drifted shut across Allegan County.
