WOOD TV Newsbreak Co-Anchor Donovan Long Says Goodbye To West Michigan
Long came to WOOD TV five years ago from Knoxville, Tennessee, but the road getting to West Michigan wasn't easy.
A car accident on July 2nd, 2018 left Long unable to walk.
Long was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder following a car accident in July 2018.
He spent 11 months learning to walk and run again.
When Long arrived at Wood TV in July of 2019 he started out on News 8’s weekend morning newscasts.
He eventually joined WOOD TV Daybreak as a co-anchor alongside Teresa Weakley and has been there for the past five years.
Why Did Donovan Long Leave WOOD TV Newsbreak?
Long shared this announcement on his social media accounts;
"After telling stories in west Michigan for 5 years, it’s time to say see you later. This isn’t goodbye, as I like to think our paths will cross again someday. I am immensely grateful to have been a part of your lives and WOOD TV over the years. All of you have made me feel at home and a member of your family. We will always be a unit, bonded by our differences and connected through community. So, thank you for inviting me in every morning and giving me a chance to show up as me— a boy from Tennessee. Hope to announce what’s next soon!"
I had the chance to Meet Donovan long while being a guest soup server at Catholic Charites West Michigan's Soup On Event last year.
He was such a nice guy and I think I can speak with many people in West Michigan that we will miss him on our TV and wish him well.
