One of those was Wood TV 8 Chief Meteorologist Ellen Bacca having a baby girl, And the other was Fox 17 Meteorologist Candice Monacelli sharing that she was expecting in 2024.

Another West Michigan Meteorologist just shared some very personal news.

It wasn't about expecting a baby, it was about a Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis.

What Is Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer is a growth of cells that starts in the thyroid. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of the neck, just below the Adam's apple. The thyroid produces hormones that regulate heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and weight.

Signs Of Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer might not cause any symptoms at first. But as it grows, it can cause signs and symptoms, such as swelling in your neck, voice changes, and difficulty swallowing.

On Friday morning Fox 17 Meteorologist Haleigh Vaughn shared on her Facebook page the personal news of her Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis.

West Michigan Shows Love And Support For Haleigh

It didn't take long for West Michigan to show love and support for Haleigh as she recovers from surgery.

Just like everyone else, I'm hoping for a fast and speedy recovery for Haleigh.

I also want to recognize how brave Haleigh is to share this story publicly.
