Gold Coin Dropped In West Michigan Red Kettle

WOOD-TV 8 reports the Salvation Army in Holland got a surprise at the SpartanNash Family Fare on Washington. They found someone had dropped a Canadian Maple Leaf $50 coin into the kettle! After showing it to an area coin dealer, they found it is worth $1,150!
The Salvation Army thinks the coin was dropped into the kettle Monday or Tuesday, and they plan to sell the coin and use the money toward rental and utility assistance, along with filling pantry shelves.
