Oh, Christmas tree, oh, Christmas tree, let us count the ways you'll kill us!

Okay, so maybe that's not the exact words to the age old German carol, but if you were to believe the City of Grand Rapids tweet over the weekend you might think so.

I understand that the public has to be made aware of the dangers of bringing a live tree into the house, but so soon? It's like Thanksgiving hasn't quite wrapped up yet, and now the dangers of Christmas trees are jammed in my face.

Did you know half of home fires involving Christmas trees happen between December 22 and January 5? Yeah, that's right. Because you forgot to water it! Now get on that!

Full disclosure: Now that my kids are grown up and out of the house, I don't even get a Christmas tree any more, so this is kind of like Scrooge getting mad about safety. So don't get too mad at me.
