Gerald R. Ford International Airport, along with the Patriot Guard Riders of West Michigan, will be getting together Wednesday to welcome troops home for Thanksgiving, and they're inviting the public to help.

It's called "Operation Handshake," it's an event to give a warm welcome home to our troops, and to thank them for their service.

The event is free and open to the public. Volunteers will be at the airport from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Family members are encouraged to notify the Patriot Guard Riders of returning military member's flight information. If that's you, or someone you know, you can contact michigan@patroitguard.org or call Tony VanGessel at 616-862-1984.
