Iggy Azalea is officially unsigned. On Saturday (Nov. 3), the rapper took to Twitter to announce that she left Island Records before releasing her new album.

Most artists strive to be signed, but as Azalea points out in her tweet, now she can do everything on her own terms. "Now I’m free to release whatever kinda music I like, whenever I’d like," wrote Azalea.

Though she's free to release music whenever she wants, Azalea explained that unfortunately fans will have to wait till early next year for new music. "Well still no music this year tho… I am nowhere near ready direction wise etc. with the stuff I’ve been working on and I don’t wanna jump the gun and have some messy era aesthetically," divulged the rapper.

Azalea had previously been signed to Def Jam until February, switching to Island Records in attempt to have a fresh start in her career. But even though having a new label seemed promising for fans, Azalea wasn't quite happy with her music's new home. In a now-deleted tweet, Azalea revealed how she actually felt about the record label. "I love Island, but don’t want a label, there are conversations happening at the moment. I want to be my own boss. I feel I would be better off if I could make my own timeline etc choices and I have the funds to do it," wrote the rapper.

But it seemed like the label was just as unhappy with Azalea as she was with not having full control over her music. Her 21-city U.S. tour was cancelled, which would've become her first in four years. Then her collaborative track with Tyga, "Kream," didn't achieve much success, either.

Now that Azalea has full control over her music, we'll see if she can finally make the comeback she's been striving for.
