Did Anyone See The Meteor That Flew By West Michigan?
Did you know a meteor flew by a West Michigan backyard over the weekend? See the video here.

2024 has been filled with many clear nights which are great for stargazing. My son and I have seen a lot of good shooting stars. When I visited my son last night I saw a shooting star.
It has also been a great year for seeing the Northern Lights although my son and I have not caught them yet. I recently drove across the Upper Peninsula twice and was hoping to catch the Northern Lights but came up empty.
I have a lot better luck spotting a shooting star (meteor) than the Northern Lights but I did miss a meteor that flew across West Michigan over the weekend.

Did You See the Meteor That Few Over a West Michigan Backyard Over the Weekend?
I did a lot of yard work over the weekend but stopped each day at the edge of the dark so I didn't see the meteor that passed through West Michigan but someone caught it on video.
Reddit poster "mlivesocial" posted a video on the Grand Rapids Reddit page of the meteor passing by a West Michigan backyard on Saturday night October 5.
You can see in the picture above the meteor got bigger and greener as it got closer to the tree line. Below is what some of the folks on the Grand Rapids Reddit page had to say.
Reddit poster "mlivesocial" made a great explanation of the meteor that was spotted by several on Saturday night but it was poster "Michigan-Fish" that made me laugh when they said, "That's what they WANT you to think. The Truth is the invasion has begun."
