Grand Rapids’ first Raising Cane’s opened just last week, and the lines were wild. Cars stretched out onto 28th Street, causing traffic backups, which shows that West Michigan is more than ready to welcome the fast-food chicken chain.

The new spot is in Kentwood, taking over the former Outback Steakhouse.

And if one location isn’t enough, a second Raising Cane’s is planned near Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Chain Expands in West Michigan

But there’s more. A third Raising Cane’s is planned for the area. MLive reports a new restaurant has been proposed for 3179 Alpine Ave. in Walker, the old TGI Fridays spot.

The Walker Planning Commission has approved the plan, and construction could start as early as July 2026. The project calls for demolishing Fridays to make way for a 3,100-square-foot restaurant with a double drive-thru and both indoor and outdoor seating.
