
New Restaurant Opens Inside Grand Rapids Board Game Lounge
A Grand Rapids board game lounge is continuing to evolve!
House Rules Board Game Lounge opened in late 2020 at 404 Ionia Ave. SW., across from the downtown market. The owner had previously operated a bottle shop, Craft Beer Cellar, at the site, and decided to re-open with the new board games lounge concept.

Co-owner Brian Beaucher told Wood TV 8 when it opened, "I’ve been a board gamer for 25 years and I think Grand Rapids needs it. There are plenty of game stores in the area but there hasn’t been a board game lounge yet. And I’ve seen it succeed in other cities, so why not bring it to Grand Rapids?"

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, House Rules first opened as a board game retailer. Later on in 2021, House Rules officially opened up its beer taps. It offers twenty rotating beer choices. There's also mocktails, cocktails, and wine.
Now, in addition to drinks, there's a restaurant serving up food at House Rules! it opened in late June.
On the menu, you'll find a ton of French Fry options - Bri's Fries, build-your-own fries entrees. Order straight cut, curly, waffle, wedge, or tater tot, then load them up if you want! Choose from pizza fries, nacho fries, Tokyo fries, chili cheese fries, bbq pork fries and more.
Appetizers include chicken tender, giant pretzel, veggie tempura, mozzarella sticks, and falafel.
You'll also find sliders, chicken sandwiches, pulled pork, and salads.
