Keeping your long guns sighted in is essential when hunting wild game at a distance. Not every gun owner is a hunter, many like to shoot as a hobby. Either way, you need a safe place to shoot long distances.

I love this photo above because it reminds me of when my hunting buddies Curt, Adam, and I were in the Upper Peninsula sighting in our rifles before bear season in a similar setting.
We didn't shoot off the hood of our trucks and don't recommend that because a high-caliber gun creates a lot of pressure if it's cold enough and if you are close enough the windshield will shatter. Ask my parents' neighbor because his brother did this to his truck.
Not everyone with a long gun owns or has access to property where they can safely target shoot but some folks in West Michigan have some suggestions.

Outdoor Shooting Ranges in West Michigan
Recently a poster on the Grand Rapids Reddit page enquired about outdoor rifle ranges where you can shoot long distances and below are the places recommended.
The rage this poster referred to is the Barry County Shooting Range in the Barry State Game Area.
That is a great suggestion because South Kent Sportsmen's Club in Dorr offers trap, skeet, rifle, and pistol shooting opportunities.
You can find the Red Flannel Rod & Gun Club in Cedar Springs.
The Howard City Conservation Club has a great shooting range in Montcalm County.
The Echo Point Shooting Range can be found in the Allegan State Game Area on Monroe Road.
The West Walker Sportsman's Club has one of the finer shooting facilities and is just 10 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids.
You can find the Caledonia Sportsman's Club in the southeast corner of Kent County. The Marksmanship Training Center is located in Missaukee County. MTC offers a firearms academy where you can learn, practice, and become a master marksman.
