
Love Banana Bread? This Michigan Festival Is Back For Round Two In 2026
One of Michigan’s newest food festivals is officially returning for a second year.
Love baked goods? How about bananas? Charming Northern Michigan towns? Well, this is right up your alley!

After a successful debut in 2025, Petoskey’s Banana Bread Festival is coming back in just a few weeks. Banana bread fans will once again have a reason to head to downtown Petoskey for a day of baking, sampling, and community fun.
According to the festival’s Facebook event page, the 2nd Annual Banana Bread Festival is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026. Grandpa Shorter's Gifts at 301 East Lake St. serves as the central hub for the celebration. The family-owned store has been around since 1946 and specializes in Petoskey Stones and other unique Michigan-themed gifts

While full event details have not yet been released, last year’s event featured a banana bread baking competition that drew more than 80 entries from bakers of all ages and experience levels. Loaves were judged in multiple categories: Amateur Baker, Professional Baker, Child Baker, and Gluten-Free.

In addition to the competition, businesses throughout downtown Petoskey offered banana-themed specials, turning the festival into a walkable, all-day celebration for visitors.

The festival also had a strong charitable component. After judging concluded, the submitted loaves were donated to local organizations, helping the event give back to the community.
