What Is a Syndrome
Before I tell you the name of a city in Michigan city that has a syndrome named after it, I thought it might be important to explain what a syndrome is.
A syndrome is a group of medical signs and symptoms correlated with each other and often associated with a particular disease or disorder.
Once a syndrome is paired with a definite cause, it becomes a disease and is no longer referred to as a syndrome.

Stockholm Syndrome is probably the most recognized syndrome named after a city in the world. Stockhome Syndrome is when someone who has been kidnapped develops an attachment to their captor.
Stockholm Syndrome came about after a famous band robbery in Sweden in 1973 that turned into a hostage situation that lasted for 6 days. The hostages were locked in a bank vault with dynamite strapped to their bodies and when the police finally rescued them they were actually afraid of the police. The hostages even tried to raise money to help pay for the bank robbers' lawyers and refused to testify. To take it a step further one of the hostages wound up getting engaged to one of their captors.
