Who doesn't love peanut butter? Pretty much nobody. It is in most every home in Michigan, I am sure, including mine!

Let me get right down to the fact that I LOVE peanut butter, but mine has to be crunchy peanut butter. Oh, that extra crunch of the peanuts in the peanut butter is a little bit of heaven to me.

Sadly, all peanut butter is not the same, and some brands are better than others, and some brands we down right should not buy. Why?

It's the ingredients. Peanut butter is a healthy food, but not so much when manufactures pour so many added ingredients in that it makes it scary.

WHAT SHOULD LOOK FOR?

Are you a label reader?

Start, and read the label of the peanut butter you have on the shelf. Does it have high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oil? Bad, bad!

What about sugar? Is sugar added? Not good. Sadly you're probably talking about most all brands of peanut butter.

So, what are the worst peanut butter brands sold in Michigan that we should avoid?

The website Eat This broke it down to the worst, or most unhealthy peanut butter and I'll give you the top five worst to eat.

5. PETER PAN ORIGINAL CREAMY PEANUT BUTTER

Higher in calories and sugar compared to most brands!

4. SKIPPY REDUCED FAT CREAMY PEANUT BUTTER

The buzzwords words "reduced fat" are a red flag. This means "higher sugars."

3. PEANUT BUTTER & CO. WHITE CHOCOLATE WONDERFUL

Lowest amount of protein and higher in sugar!

2. SMUCKER'S REDUCED FAT PEANUT BUTTER

Again a red flag for "reduced fat!" To do that they have added some real funky ingredients!

1. SMUCKER'S GOOBER GRAP

Contains 21 grams of added sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

Okay, I'm running home and reading the label of my peanut butter. I'm prepared to be shocked.....and sad!
