Warning Michigan! Why Is A Dryer Sheet in my Mailbox?
When I go to my mailbox I am expecting to find mail and maybe a package, but not this!
You may find a dryer sheet in there!
Now you're thinking, hold on a minute, a dryer sheet, and in my mailbox? Is someone daffy?
Actually no. It probably came from your mail carrier.
This is absolutely true, your mail carrier may put a dryer sheet in your mailbox. Why?
Is your mailbox stinky? Nope, but it may have Yellowjackets or wasps in there.
As the weather warms, those little critters find some interesting places to make a hive or nest, and your mailbox may seem very hospitable.
Mail carriers are reaching into mailboxes all day long and it sure would be easy to run into a stinging, angry and buzzing little critter that doesn't like you invading their home, so, bam, you get stung.
Thus, the dryer sheet! Those little beasts don't like the strong smell, and it is a good and an environmentally safe way to keep them from living there. Plus, your mail will smell so good, too.
Dryer sheets are very inexpensive, can be found at almost any store, and simple to use, so if you want to protect your mail carrier and yourself from those awful stings when going to the mailbox, just toss one in there. You do have to monitor them and be sure to replace regularly because they will lose their strength.

By the way, as a mail carrier commented on Reddit.com, "if you actually find a dryer sheet in your mailbox, be careful. Your mail carrier found something, so time for you to act and get rid of those Satanic creatures."
