New Owners Set To Honor Gene At Kalamazoo’s Pumpkin Farm
Last year, when Gene "the Pumpkin Man" passed away, the community was devastated to find out that the farm that they frequent every single fall in preparation for Halloween had lost its beloved owner.
Myron Eygene Rhodes, “Gene the Pumpkin Man,” and his farm were a heavily visited attraction every fall, and since his passing, people have been wondering what is next for Gene the Pumpkin Man’s farm, located at 22637 M–43 in Kalamazoo.

Incredibly enough, we have come to find out who the new owners are, as it will be staying in the family, according to their Facebook post.
We are so excited to share that we are officially the new owners of Gene The Pumpkin Man’s farm. We are Steele and Sadie Evans, Gene's great nephew and niece-in-law, the fourth generation to farm this land.

As they continued, they announced the farm would be changing names:
Our family has dedicated themselves to and worked this land since 1885, and we are honored to be able to continue the incredibly orange tradition Gene poured his life into. After much prayer and reflection, we have decided to take on a new name for the business, Evans Acres Family Farm.
The only downside to the farm being taken over is that it will not be open to the public this fall. However, they plan to honor Gene by keeping his name unchanged on the barn doors.
They understand that his former farm holds many memories not only for their family but also for the community. They plan on being ready for the fall—season in 2026.
