As we get closer to Halloween season, it’s about that time we explore Michigan and talk about some of the most haunted places in the state.

Michigan has a long and storied history and much tragedy that adds to the mystique of several establishments that still sit today, and are said to be a haunted hotspot.

The wild thing is, some of these are places you can still visit today, to see if you can pick up on a little paranormal activity yourself. Just remember always to exercise caution when ghost hunting, as you do not want to trespass on private property.

Originally a poorhouse established in the 1830s, this site has a long history and is known for its high levels of paranormal activity and disturbing stories.

Bruce Mansion (Lapeer): Built in the late 1800s, this mansion is associated with the tragic deaths of the Bruce family, who are believed by some to still reside there. Visitors report experiencing ghostly figures and hearing disembodied voices.

Holly Hotel (Holly): This hotel has a long history of fires and deaths, and its guests have reported smelling cigar smoke (from the first owner), hearing disembodied voices, and even feeling a dog's presence.

Seven Gables Road (Dansville): Known as one of Michigan's most haunted roads, stories tell of a burnt-down house where a family was slain, leading to reports of shadowy figures and disembodied screams.

Michigan Bell Telephone Company (Grand Rapids): The building is said to be haunted by its former residents, Warren and Virginia Randall, who died in a murder-suicide. Prank calls, screaming, and the sounds of a wooden leg have been reported.
