Adults In Michigan Are Trying To Kill Off Trick-Or-Treating
Trick-or-treating on Halloween night is easily one of the best nights for a kid. It always seemed that on this night your parents were a little less strict and would allow you to stay up a little later than usual, snacking on a bunch of the candy you acquired throughout the neighborhood.
Not only has the landscape of trick-or-treating changed, but the spirit I feel is starting to die off. The festivities of trick-or-treating are always about trying to find the best neighborhood that gave out the coolest or biggest candies. It seems like adults don’t want that to be the case anymore.

Usually, when we ask our audience questions about things in the community, the responses are vast. But when we asked what the best neighborhoods in Southwest Michigan to go trick-or-treating were, they called us out, saying that we were trying to reveal all the best neighborhoods. Well, yeah... duh.
That’s kind of the point, isn’t it? What’s wrong with letting everybody know the best neighborhoods for trick-or-treating? Why wouldn’t you want kids to get the most out of their experience?
Now I will shout out to Gwen who commented and said, "The neighborhood just south of Portage Central Middle School has several homes that are decorated and lots hand out full-size candy bars." Also, Dorothy said the Milwood neighborhood is a good one as well. But it does beg the question...
What did Halloween ever do to these other people to make them so miserable that not only did they have to start enforcing age limits, but now you’re not even allowed to know the best neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating?
When I was a kid, there was an older gentleman in our neighborhood who would tape silver dollar coins to a large Snickers bar, I told everybody about it and where he was so that they could even come from the neighborhood across the street to visit him.
It’s all about sharing the love, but I feel like the Halloween spirit in Michigan is dying, and people are putting way too many restrictions on trick-or-treating. Why adults are putting so many restrictions on who can trick-or-treat and don't wanna share the best neighborhoods shows how people can take an amazing holiday where we can all be a kids again and ruin it.
Hix House In Livonia Pirates of the Caribbean Halloween 2022
In prior years we've seen everything from Beetlejuice to Ghostbusters but this year's theme took on the Pirates of the Caribbean, equipped with its very own Black Pearl, with a realistic dungeon inside, along with a voodoo hut that featured a manikin dressed as Tia Dalma.
