The Deadliest Highway in Michigan and Every Other State
If you're like me, you're thinking, "Okay, is it 75, 94, or 96?". Having driven on all three of them on the east side of Michigan, where speed limits are treated more as a minimum recommended speed, I assumed it had to be one of those three. It wasn't. It's not an interstate, but a US highway.

How the Deadliest Highways Were Ranked
CarInsuranceComparison.com analyzed the most recent data available from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and the Insurance Information Institute to determine which highways had the highest average of fatalities annually in each state.
Florida Tops the List With U.S. 1
Unsurprisingly, as the state—and clueless drivers—go hand-in-hand, Florida's U.S. Highway 1 is the most dangerous in America. This stretch of highway runs from Key West into Georgia along the state's east coast and sees an annual average of 108 fatalities.

That's over double what the annual average is for the second-deadliest highway in the nation; the portion of I-40 that runs through Tennessee averages 52 a year. Michigan's Grim Reaper of highways isn't too far off with a firm stance in the nation's Top 10 for Deadliest Highways.

Huh. That was my first thought after reading what World Population Review and CarInsuranceComparison both had named as Michigan's deadliest highway. However, after reading numerous statistics and news stories about horrendous accidents on the west side of the state, I was convinced.
