The new scam involves an organization, falsely claiming to represent the Capital Area Humane Society here in the state of Michigan. The scammers, are calling individuals, claiming that their pet is in "urgent care", and asked to pay for credit card information on the phone.

Why This Will Never Be True

There are a few important things to keep in mind here in Michigan.

The Capital Area Humane Society does not currently have an urgent care. They also will NEVER, ask for any payment information over the phone. Most companies for that matter, will never ask for the credit card numbers you may have over the phone. Anyone who does, you should hang up immediately and call the company for a true verification of the authenticity.

What You Should Do If You Get A Call:

If you ever get a call regarding personal information, never provide it over the phone. If you do get a fraudulent phone call, you should hang up immediately and call your local area law enforcement.
