Wild Turkey Crashes Through Michigan Man’s Windshield on I-96
We've all heard about how planes have unfortunate collisions with birds which usually forces the aircraft to either return to the airport they just left, or find another place to safely land.
But there's a lot more traffic on Michigan's freeways than there is in the sky. So when something happens suddenly you need to act fast.
Foul Play on Michigan's I-96
But imagine driving a car on a major, high-traffic Michigan freeway and a bird strikes your windshield. Not just any small bird like a pigeon, but a girthy wild turkey?

When a 19-year-old man from Sterling Heights traveling along I-96 near Fowlerville in Livingston County, he somehow drove his 2022 Ford F-250 right into a wild turkey that happened to be flying in his path.
Was The Driver Injured?
The Michigan State Police posted a photo from the aftermath of the incident which happened yesterday (4/24/2005). Luckily the man suffered no injuries. On the other hand the turkey did not come out of the situation gobbling.
As you can see from the photo posted by the Michigan State Police First District on X, the bird obviously did not survive. And unlike car and deer collisions which are more common at dusk and at dawn, this crash happened around 12:45pm yesterday.
How Did a Wild Turkey End Up on a Michigan Freeway at Lunchtime?
It's kind of like asking the classic joke, 'Why did the chicken cross the road?". But instead this is not a joke. In fact it's kind of sad. Michigan's turkey hunting season runs from April 20 through June 7, and the MSP believes that this particular turkey was trying to avoid hunters and ended up in the middle of the freeway.
