Why is Rite Aid Closing?

According to the Wall Street Journal, Rite Aid is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Due to the opioid epidemic, Rite Aid is facing thousands of different lawsuits that allege that its pharmacy oversupplied prescription painkillers.

However, Rite Aid denies any involvement or wrongdoing.
