Major Downtown Grand Rapids Intersection Is Now Closed Until November
Is it just me or does it seem like construction barrels are popping up all across West Michigan like weeds.

While we all love a new, flat, smooth roads to drive on, it's becoming more and more difficult to navigate your way around Grand Rapids.
The heavily traveled intersection of Michigan and Fuller is currently shut down for another 2-3 weeks for sewer repairs and other issues with the road.
This closure effects a lot of people who use 1-96 to get to work and come home.
It also hurts the local business that are seeing less vehicle traffic.
Thankfully this is just a short closure.
There is another major road that goes through the heart of downtown Grand Rapids that is now closed and not expected to open until later this fall.
Major Downtown Grand Rapids Road Is Now Closed Until November
On July 15, the Division Ave and Fulton St intersection will close until November. Access to businesses will be maintained.
Lyon and Fountain will remain two-way between Division and Ransom until work is completed this year.
The project will:
- Reconstruct the Division Avenue and Fulton Street intersection including curb and gutter.
- Upgrade the street lighting and telecommunications system in Division Ave from Fulton St to Michigan St. The City is coordinating with Consumers Energy, AT&T, and Vicinity Energy to complete this work.
- Remove four areaways under existing sidewalks in Division Ave from Fulton St to Michigan St
