I love Wednesdays because every Wednesday, the Humane Society of West Michigan brings by a new friend for me. Today, Sally came to visit!

Sally is a beautiful, six-month-old Catahoula-mix who is looking to become a part of your family.

The Catahoula Cur is an American dog breed named after Catahoula Parish, in the state of Louisiana. Catahoulas are highly intelligent and energetic. They are assertive, but not aggressive by nature. They make a good family dog but will not tolerate being isolated, so interaction with the dog is a daily requirement. When a Catahoula is raised with children, the dog believes that it is his or her responsibility to look after and protect those children.

Tammy, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Sally into the studios. Sally has been spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and socialized, and is ready for adoption.

Tammy mentioned that the Humane Society is having a dog/cat/small critter special, excluding puppies and kittens. Through the 21st, dogs are only $50, and it’s “name your own price” for cats and critters!

You can get all the information on Sally and adopting, by visiting the Humane Society's Website or by calling (616) 453-8900.

Tammy also mentioned that Monday, March 30th is their annual fundraising party, Paws, Claws & Corks! It begins at 6 p.m. in the Steelcase Ballrooms of DeVos Place, downtown Grand Rapids and will feature live and silent auctions, with food and wine sampling from 12 area restaurants.
