Message In A Bottle Found In Lake Michigan [Video]

Someone sent a SOS to the world. Okay, it wasn't really a SOS, I just automatically think of that song when I hear about a Message In A Bottle, yeah!

A mother and daughter from Fennville were walking along Lake Michigan when they stumbled across a bottle with a bunch of messages stuck in it. 

After digging around the internet, Amy Gasaway and her daughter, Amanda Butler, figured out the Pepsi bottle was tossed into the Big Lake by some high school students and their teacher some 18 years ago.

The notes were written by then 15 year old Zachary Catlin and his friend John Thomas.

Catlin wrote about his plans to become a geologist, while Thomas shared his love of playing guitar and sleeping.

The pair wrote the notes as part of a class project at Cascade High School in Clayton, Indiana, which is near Indianapolis.

A third note in the bottle was written by their teacher, Diane Flint, who asked whoever found the bottle to write back.

Adding to the drama of the find was the date on the notes, September 10, 2001. The day before the terrorist attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

“I’m sure they had no clue whatsoever how the world was about to change in front of them," Gasaway told FOX 17 News.

So did Catlin become a geologist, and is Thomas shredding in a rock band? Gasaway said she is searching online to find the men to see how their lives turned out.
