Unexpected Heroes: Michigan Buddies Save Choking Raccoon During Bonfire

You hear stories about someone being at the right place at the right time and saving someone whose choking, but I bet you've never heard a story like this.

But I bet you've never heard a story like this.

A video posted on Instagram starts out with a man kneeling down way too close for comfort to a raccoon.

As the video plays you find out that the raccoon is chocking on something and the man in the Michigan hat is trying to help dislodge whatever is blocking the raccoons airways.

Off camera you hear one of his buddies say to "go a little bit lower" with his hand as he's striking the raccoons back.

That advice was just what it took to free whatever the raccoon was chocking on.

The racoon was a bit shaken up from seeing his life flash before his eyes but was able to catch his breath and slowly make his way towards the fence.

Redshadow1891 on Instagram described what happened:

Random raccoon showed up to the campfire last night and started choking, and my buddy Bill saved its life!! Pretty crazy, I wish I had the 30 seconds or so before this when it was standing on it's hind legs and swaying back and forth really struggling. It was wild! It hung out with us all night after that. Pretty cool!
