‘Sex and the City’ Star Sarah Jessica Parker Confirms Third Movie Scrapped
HBO may have dabbled in theatrical ventures for Sex and the City or Entourage, but if Game of Thrones can’t convince them on another box-office bite, they’re not coming back to the table. So it is, that Sarah Jessica Parker confirms a third Sex and the City is taking a cold shower.
Even as the first two Sex and the City movies underwent years of rumors before coming to fruition (ditto Entourage), star Sarah Jessica Parker seemingly shut things down for good in a recent Extra interview (h/t Entertainment Weekly). Parker nonetheless maintains a relationship with HBO for her post-Sex series Divorce, but said flat-out:
It’s over … we’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.
Parker’s comments were apparently in reference to a DailyMail article that claimed a third movie fell apart over star Kim Cattrall’s demands, but in true Samantha fashion, Cattrall refuted the notion over Twitter:
So, there it is. Sex and the City fans will be disappointed to end the franchise with a tepid sequel, but we can all take solace in one adjacent fact: There is no Entourage 2.
