Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has confirmed the first influenza-associated pediatric death in Michigan for the 2022-2023 flu season, and that's a hard pill to swallow, so to speak.

With flu season approaching, a Grand Rapids Health Center is holding a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic in a few weeks.

Michigan's first major flu outbreak has the MDHHS reminding us to get our flu shots this year.

This is one of the first for the Midwest.

With the ongoing pandemic health officials are urging people now more than ever to get their flu shots this year.

The Flu is big-time stuff in Grand Rapids

On Thursday, health officials announced that flu shots are only 23 percent effective against this season's strain. This is not a good sign in a season where it seems more and more people are being stricken down with the flu.

Flu season is especially rampant this year in West Michigan.  With more and more people falling ill at work, school, and at home, now is the perfect time to get immunized against the flu virus.

We have good news and bad news about the flu season so far. The flu is hitting earlier than average, but this year's vaccine is proving to be very effective.

Flu shots are always in demand.  Fortunately, this year supply is expected to exceed demand.  But even though there appears to be more than enough flu shots, it is still recommended that you get your shot now and do not wait until flu season picks up.

January through February is the peak time for the influenza virus, but don't worried it isn't too late to get vaccinated.  Many people refuse to get vaccinated for one reason or another.  Don't be one of those people, and let me tell you why...
