A fun-filled evening for the family is planned for November 30th to kick off the holiday season in Rosa Parks Circle. A few of downtown's most popular holiday events (the GRAM Tree Lighting, the opening of Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink, and the free horse-drawn carriage rides) will be combined to make it into an event to truly kick off the holiday season in Grand Rapids.

This Sunday, anybody can gain free admission to four Grand Rapids museums as part of the Museums Free 4 All program.

If Easter travel doesn't take you too far this weekend, there will be a great opportunity for some affordable family time on Saturday and Sunday in Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids Art Museum and Frederik Meijer Gardens will both have free admission for Bank of America and Merrill Lynch customers this weekend.

Staying in Grand Rapids over spring break is a little easier this year. Our warm March has already given us a taste of summer making missing out on a trip south easier to handle than most years. The trick is to have fun while keeping the kids busy over spring break in Grand Rapids...

I've said many times before that lifelong Grand Rapidians don't know what a great city they have.  From the philanthropy that built the arena, convention center and a lot of the Medical Mile, to the savvy business owners who continue to invest in downtown, GR has a vibe that few cities (smaller or bigger) can match...

No turning back now.  Christmas is coming and Friday's celebration in downtown Grand Rapids serves as a small reminder that our shopping days are slowly ticking away. This Friday, the Grand Rapids Art Museum will hold their tree lighting ceremony, followed by the opening of ice skating at Rosa Parks circle, then the launch of a downtown Christmas decorating competition.

It's only the first full day of ArtPrize and predicting a winner now is a bit of a stretch, but I'm not going to let that stop me. A few trends have developed after just two years of ArtPrize.  If we apply these trends to this year's competition, we can make an educated guess as to who might have success.

ArtPrize begins September 21 and volunteers are still needed. You may volunteer through ArtPrize or directly through a venue.  ArtPrize Exhibition Centers such as UICA, GRAM, Grand Rapids Public Museum, and Cathedral Square recruit their own volunteers for ArtPrize.  They are all still in need of additional help.
