GRCC To Receive $4.1M As Part Of Grant Money
GRCC is set to receive $4.1 million in grant money.  The college is part of the Michigan Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing, which was awarded a much larger $24.9 million grant, of which GRCC gets a share. GRCC will use the money used to upgrade manufacturing programs, purchase equipment better suited to teach advances in manufacturing and also for new equipment to grow their current educational

On May 8th voters rejected a $98.6 million millage proposal from Grand Rapids Community College.  The vote was 57% "no". The proposed millage would have upgraded technology and renovated buildings at GRCC.  Now GRCC is requiring students to pay a $100 per semester "facilities fee".  Is the new fee fair to students?

Tuesday brought numerous elections across West Michigan.  Grand Rapids Community College's request for nearly $100 million was one of many proposed millages. Schools also on Tuesday's ballot include:  Allendale, Coopersville, Grand Haven, Grandville, Holland, Hudsonville, Lowell, Northview, Spring Lake, West Ottawa, and more. Results are in.

I suppose the salaries of any higher ed professional is a matter of public record so it should be no surprise that the Grand Rapids Press has listed who is making what pay at Grand Rapids Community College. I can only speak for myself and say that it's a little over the top to see your name printed in the local paper with such personal details about what you make for living... yikes!
