The 'Daily Show' host is coming back to television.

Class is in session. Sadly, legions of kids know this to be true, as they begin to head back to school for another year of filling their brains with knowledge.

This was great, and reminded me just how much I miss Jon Stewart. Thursday night after the Republican National Convention ended, Stephen Colbert went on live as he has all week for “The Late Show”.  And then he did what we’ve all been waiting for this entire election season...

Jon Stewart said goodbye to The Daily Show last night in equal parts star-studded and quiet, personal fashion as former correspondents like Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and Olivia Munn returned to pay their respects, while Bruce Springsteen closed out the slow with a performance — at Stewart’s request — of his 1999 song “The Land of Hopes and Dreams” and, for his fellow New Jerseyan, “Born to Run”.

The Daily Show and Comedy Central have announced that, after a long search with many rumored candidates, Trevor Noah will succeed the retiring Jon Stewart as the host of the late night program. Noah, a 31-year-old stand-up comedian, has served as a correspondent for the show but, so far, has only made three appearances.

Just when we thought the state of Comedy Central’s late-night lineup had settled, following Larry Wilmore’s ‘Nightly Show’ takeover from ‘The Colbert Report,’ ol’ Jon Stewart done spun us about once more. Word has come in that ‘The Daily Show’ host announced his retirement during tonight’s taping, ostensibly after Stewart’s current contract.

Our first look at Jon Stewart's directorial debut has arrived in the 'Rosewater' trailer, showcasing a side of this funnyman we've never seen before. After years of making us laugh and sigh as the host of 'The Daily Show,' the beloved comedian has stepped behind the camera with a film that doesn't look like it has a single laugh in its entire running time, but it looks harrowing and fascinating all the same.

At the recent Montclair Film Festival fundraiser in New Jersey, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert took over a stage to exchange personal anecdotes and talk about their work togther on 'The Daily Show.' And when Stewart was asked about his worst-ever guest, the comedian didn't hesitate, responding with an emphatic, "Hugh Grant."
