A convicted murderer who escaped late Sunday from the Ionia Correctional Facility has been caught in northern Indiana, authorities said Monday night. Michael David Elliott, a 40-year-old serving a life sentence on four counts of murder, was caught in LaPorte, Ind., about 5:30 p.m. CDT Monday evening, the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office said.

The Ionia Department of Public Safety and the Michigan State Police are currently searching for an inmate who escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility. According to the department's Facebook page, the suspect in question is 40-year-old Michael David Elliot who was serving a life sentence for several offenses, including four counts of first degree murder.
