Graduates from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, according to a survey, are excelling into the job market upon graduation.

According to WOOD and the GVSU Career Center Assistant Director Megan Riksen, says that 95% graduates land a full or part time job right out of school.

Of those students landing jobs, a GVSU survey points out that 83% of those jobs in the West Michigan region.

Riksen said, "A lot of the times they are from the state of Michigan, and they want to stay here. You pair that with our economy is doing great, West Michigan is a great place to live and work. There is a lot of really great things happening here for young professionals."

GVSU also has several career fairs throughout the year with over 200 companies and 1,500 students being involved.

GVSU is not the only college that is seeing the uptick for jobs for graduates but from 2018 to 2019, colleges across the nation are seeing a 16% increase for students in the job market.
