Sometimes what sounds good on paper isn't all it's cracked to be. A court hearing Tuesday in Grand Rapids bore that out.

A Rockford couple looking for a little adventure wound up with more than they bargained for according to court documents released this week.

WZZM-TV reports that the pair, who live in Algoma Township near Rockford, met another man online and invited him over for what was described as a "bisexual threesome" in court documents released during a preliminary hearing for the crime Tuesday in 63rd District Court.

What happened next I'm pretty sure wasn't agreed to in the social media exchange that set up the "date."

Anthony White got into a scuffle with the man they invited over and tried to get him to leave by pulling a shotgun. The man, Jared Scholten, wrestled the gun away from White and shot him.

Scholten allegedly then stole the phone of the female in the triangle to prevent an emergency call.

White was severely injured by the blast and is still recovering.

Scholten is facing life in prison on the charges and is currently in Kent County Jail awaiting trial following the preliminary hearing earlier this week.
