We've all seen the memes, so it's apparent that movie goers are excited about what is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.

Grand Rapids will be one of a few places in the world where movie buffs can view Christopher Nolan's newest film Oppenheimer in the way he wants us to see it.

Grand Rapid's own Celebration Cinema North has received the upcoming film Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm film.

If you're thinking to yourself that it's weird that we're getting a movie on film instead of digitally,  that's because It's one of only 31 theaters in the world showing the film in this format.

And this thing is MASSIVE. When laid out, the reel is more than 11 miles long and weighs more than 600 pounds.

In fact, IMAX posted recently that they had to make special film platters for the film because it's bigger than most film movies they've ever shown.

When Christopher Nolan chose to film the movie in this format, he was quoted saying “The sharpness and the clarity and the depth of the image is unparalleled,” and that “The headline, for me, is by shooting on IMAX 70 mm film, you're really letting the screen disappear."

So if you truly want to experience this film, you'll want to take advantage of this once in a lifetime experience that's being given to this Grand Rapids movie theatre.

And while you're there, if you're a "Barbenheimer" fan and plan to do a double feature of the two movies, you can also pose in the one of 100 Barbie Packages / Photo Booths that Celebration North was also lucky enough to snag.
