The city of Grand Rapids is now asking homeowners to water their trees to keep the city “cool and green.”

The city’s Forestry Division is saying that our current dry conditions, especially this early in the summer, can have some pretty devastating effects on our trees and other landscape plants.

If you've planted that tree or bush within the last 2 to 3 years, make sure to give it some extra love so it continues to grow into something that will stay with your home for generations.

They say when watering your trees, you should 'make it rain' and makes sure that you thoroughly water the root ball and surrounding soil.
