If you’re a Pitbull (the dog and not Mr 305) you’re going to love the fact that the Michigan Senate voted 22-13 on prohibiting local governments from putting in ordinances banning certain breeds of dogs.  It’s a start to Pitbulls being allowed anywhere in the mitten state.

ClickOnDetroit says the bill if it passes in the state House, would affect around 30 communities that already have bans in place on breed-specific dogs, which are of course Pitbulls, but also German Shepards, Rottweilers, and Cane Corsos.

Research hasn’t proven that banning the dogs effectively prevents dog bites and the bans are seen as encroaching on a dog owner’s “property rights” according to ClickOnDetroit.

We’ll have to see how this plays out, but I like seeing that we’re trying to do away with the bans.  Yes, there are horror stories of what has happened with a few of these dogs, but there are also stories of Teslas running people over, and those cars are electric.  Point is, bad things can happen anywhere, not all these dogs should be looked at as killers.

Good job Senate. (that felt weird saying.)
