Vanessa Carlton, the singer behind one of the most catchy pop songs of all time, just put her spin on another pop classic: Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend."

Released as the first of six cover songs Carlton plans to share in the coming months, "Call Your Girlfriend" gets an icy electro-acoustic re-imagining courtesy of Carlton, who brings her Nashville charm to the Swedish dance-pop anthem.

"It's great when a song with nuance like this blows up in pop culture. The lyric is so clever. Once I took it on, I realized the structure is far more unconventional than you might think as well," Carlton shared in a press release.

"Plus I got to play with members of the band Deer Tick on this. They happened to be in Nashville when I was recording this song. Dennis Ryan played drums and Chris Ryan played bass. So fresh," she added.

Back in June 2017, Lorde covered Robyn's "Hang With Me" alongside Jack Antonoff.

In February, the Swedish pop icon announced that her new album is due out "some time this year."
