The Michigan State Police are asking the public to help track down a man accused of impersonating a police officer and conducting a suspicious traffic stop.

A forensic sketch is not yet available, but will be released as soon as possible.

According to authorities, a 22-year-old woman was driving with her child in the back seat on U.S. 131 near Burton Street in Grand Rapids around midnight Tuesday. She told police that she saw flashing red and blue lights in hear rear-view mirror, so she pulled over to the side of the road.

According to police, the woman said that the man that pulled her over stepped out of his car and approached the woman's driver's side window. The woman told police the man was wearing black pants, a white shirt, a tie, black gloves, and a tan dress coat. She said he took off his overcoat and draped it over one of his arms. She then became suspicious and locked her doors. She rolled the window down a crack, and the man immediately demanded that she step out of her vehicle. She then asked to see his badge.

The woman told police the man would not show her his badge, and again demanded that she step out of the vehicle with her child.
When she asked to see his badge again, the man started hitting her car window with one of his hands, so she rolled up her window and drove away. She thinks that she may have run over one of his feet.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing more than 200 pounds. He was clean-shaven at the time, with short black hair with a bleached white streak down the left side. He has a large build with broad shoulders and a large stomach.

He was driving a blue Ford sedan, possibly a Taurus, with the Ford emblem on the front grille, and red and blue lights mounted on the dashboard.

You are asked to call the Michigan State Police Post in Rockford, or your local police agency if you see this suspect.
