Restaurant Week GR is underway! There are also a few festivals going on this weekend. It’s the Anniversary of Gerald R. Ford being sworn in as our 38th President, so it’s a reason to celebrate at the Presidential Museum. We also have Concerts, Comedy, Movies, Baseball, and Super Party Wonder Day!

Some activities include the kids, while others are more for the adults.

    Restaurant Week GR is your chance to Taste the City! Savor specially priced lunches, dinners or both at 70+ area restaurants. Each restaurant will create a special menu highlighting fresh, local ingredients for the event. Restaurant Week GR has provided over $150,000 to students through an endowed scholarship fund at the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. Participating locations donate $1 for every Restaurant Week GR meal sold.

    The Cowpie Music Festival is presented by the Michigan Heritage Music Association, a non-profit with a mission to further music accessibility and education in our region. The festival takes place every 2nd weekend in August on Shagbark Farm. Shagbark is a working cattle farm run by Farmer John. This eclectic, family-friendly event is jam-packed with amazing music, workshops for all ages and interests, a Pasture Market filled with artisans, a gourmet food court, and even a disc golf course! A weekend filled with great music, fun, and camping, it is not to be missed!

    The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan is excited to welcome you back to their historic Hispanic Festival scheduled for the second weekend of August! This 3 day long event is Free, family friendly, and open to the public. Celebrate and support the various rich Hispanic cultures that are present in West Michigan. There is going to be live entertainment, kid activities, dancing, food, beverages, our famous Mercadito, and more!

    Movies on Monroe: “Mean Girls” & “10 Things I Hate About You”

    Movies on Monroe, the premier outdoor film series in Grand Rapids, returns this summer with big screen entertainment by the banks of the Grand River! This event will feature “Mean Girls” (PG-13) and “10 Things I Hate About You” (PG-13). Movies will play on 400-square foot LED video wall. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs, beer, wine, and snacks. Rental lawn chairs will be available for $2 per chair. Food trucks will be on-site and various snacks will be available for purchase at the event. Pets are welcome! This is a smoke-free event series. Costumes are encouraged.
