The 12 Tickets That Do the Most Damage to Your Driving Record in Michigan
I'm probably going to jinx myself by saying this, but I've got a pretty good driving record. That doesn't mean that I'm saying that I'm a good driver, because I'm not.
I currently have zero points on my license and haven't had a moving violation since I was 21 and got pulled over for a click or ticket violation.
Back when I first got my license, my driving record was a hot mess
I got two speeding tickets early on for going 90mph in a 70mph zone, and one night coming home from a Detroit Red Wings game I got paced by a Michigan State Trooper doing 95mph in a 70mph.
When I saw that red light come on I almost pooped my pants thinking about how much trouble I was going to find myself in.
The Trooper wrote me a ticket for the full amount but gave me a big break by not charging me with reckless driving, which would have sent my car insurance through the roof.
I'm proud to be a Michigander, but I'm not always proud of some of the bad drivers I find myself next to on the city streets and highways.
The dangerous things I see drivers doing that could also get them a ticket include:
- Tailgating and following too close
- Speeding
- Distracted driving (things like texting while driving, eating while driving, and more)
Let's take a look at these tickets that do the most damage to your driving record.
