30,000 Without Power In West Michigan After Wednesday’s Storms
High winds and thunderstorms rolled through West Michigan last night and left over 30,000 people without power, most of which are in Kent County. Consumers Energy is working to restore power and has already reconnected about 20,000 customers.
The snapshot of the Consumers Energy Outage Map was from 5:30 am, Thursday morning, but you can see the realtime map here.
The storms had extremely high winds that knocked over trees, ripped roofs from buildings, and damaged power lines throughout the area. Most of the current outages are yet to be fully assessed, but Consumers Energy has given the very safe estimate of widespread power restoration to be completed by the Sunday, September 15th.
Stay away from downed power lines and if you see one, call 911 and Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.
