With all of the snow coming down, you are probably thinking "Welp, I'm staying in the house for the next few months."

While that is a valid point, there are still so many amazing cities to experience, specifically during wintertime.

Traverse City

Snowshoeing is a big thing in Michigan. Until I moved here, I had never heard of nor seen anyone doing it. But if you are a big fan or want to try something new, you can do so in Traverse City.

You can also enter into a Narnia-esque world when you visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

If neither of those options tickles your fancy, you can grab a beer from inside an igloo. Hop Lot Brewing Company allows you to sit around a fire pit or transport yourself into an igloo. You can imagine yourself being in a "snow globe."

Grand Rapids

You know I couldn't go without talking about Grand Rapids!

From ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle to visiting Meijer Gardens during the holidays, there is plenty to do.

However, the best part about visiting GR in the wintertime is the World of Winter Festival. There will be different twinkly light exhibits, food and so much more.

Mackinac Island

If you want to switch up where you are during the Christmas season, you can travel to Mackinac Island.

The annual Mackinac Island Christmas Bazaar and Tree Lighting bring crowds from all over. Plus, it is a fundraiser for the different churches and medical center on the island.

I have also wanted to go skiing. It sounds like Mackinac Island needs to be where I go. They have more than 70 miles of trails for people who love skiing, specifically cross-country skiing.

Marquette

Marquette is a winter wonderland vacation for sure!

You can walk through the beautiful Eben Ice Caves. If you want to remake Frozen's "Let It Go" scene, I promise I won't judge!

There are also plenty of snowy mountains and trails that are breathtaking to see.
