A West Michigan Native Will Perform On Stage At Tonight’s Tony Awards
While watching the Tony's tonight, keep an eye out when you see the cast of Bandstand on stage. Why? Because that cast includes one of West Michigan's very own.
James Nathan Hopkins, who grew up in West Michigan and attended Forest Hills Northern High School, plays the part of Jimmy Campbell in the show. You'll see him (according to one of his own Facebook posts), "running around with glasses and a sax".
Hopkins is no stranger to the stage, he was also in Bandstand at the The Paper Mill Playhouse and What’s It All About: Bacharach Reimagined at the New York Theatre Workshop.
After leaving West Michigan he attended Berklee College of Music, and is proficient on several instruments.
He is currently also serving as the entertainment director and band leader at Howl at the Moon NYC in Times Square.
You may recognize him from the time he spent performing at Mojo's Dueling Piano Bar in Downtown Grand Rapids several years ago.
The Tony's kick off tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.
