Active Commute Week GR Kicks Off Monday With A Contest
Mayor Bliss posted a reminder on her Facebook page about Active Commute Week in Grand Rapids starting Monday, June 17th.
The idea of Active Commute Week is to learn different ways to get around the city of Grand Rapids without taking your car.
The ACWGR.org website, which is the organization that puts on Active Commute Week in GR, says
Try new commute options for access to discounts, giveaways, and prizes. Give it a try! Get exercise. Reduce your carbon footprint. Join us in creating a healthier community.
Active trips are anything that gets you “moving or engaging with people”, according to ACWGR.org. A few ideas they gave were:
Biking
Carpooling
Riding the Bus
Rollerblading
Running
Kayaking
Walking
Swimming
Longboarding
If you’re going to do this, make sure to sign up for the Active Week Commute Grand Rapids contest, which is giving away a lot of prizes in a few different categories. Learn more about the contest and what you can win, plus how to log your active trips so you get points HERE.
