In an on-air announcement, NBC's Carson Daly said Ryan Gallagher "had to exit the competition." Here's why.

Gallagher, who was waiting to see if the audience had voted to keep him on the NBC vocal reality competition, has left the show suddenly. His departure was mentioned only briefly by Daly.

On his Instagram feed, Gallagher had earlier said that his Mom had been sick with CoVid-19, but then later indicated he on his Instagram stories page that he "didn't drop out" and would reveal "details" at a later date.

Entertainment Tonight has since learned Gallagher violated the show's CoVid-19 protocol, causing his departure.

Gallagher had won praise for his performance of Andrea Bocelli's "Time To Stay Goodbye" in the knock out rounds, and was awaiting the results of the public vote to see if he was to stay on the show.
