Sunday night an Amtrak train hit a car just outside Kalamazoo and killed three people.

According to WOOD, the Michigan State Police have identified 18-year-old Jordan Brooks, 19-year-old Marcionna Edwards and 20-year-old Jarmaine brown as the victims killed in the collision with the Amtrak Train.

The MSP said the crashed happened Sunday night just before 10 p.m. on S.11th Street south of W KL Avenue in Oshtemo Township.

The Oshtemo Township Fire Chief, Mark Barnes, announced that all the passengers in the car were killed and no one on the train was injured.

Amtrak passenger, Amir Baz, was heading home to Chicago when he said he felt the train shake around 9:45 p.m. He said he first though the train hit another train but was soon informed by train staff that a vehicle was hit.
Baz said, "What I heard from personnel was apparently they were saying the car was impatient - too impatient to wait for the train and thought it could make it. It went around the bar and tried getting through."
This isn't the first time a vehicle has been hit by a train in the area. Just under 5 years ago near the same area there was a deadly crash involving a van.

In 2014, a van with 3 passengers drove around vehicles that were waiting at the railroad crossing while the arms were down and were all killed when the van drove into the path of the train.
